Our Mission
Dispelling The Myths About The Humanities
The statistics show it — Humanities and Liberal Arts majors have a harder time finding jobs. In recent times, this simple idea has caused all sorts of negative stigmas, and now the entire field of Liberal Arts is having its worth called into question. Meanwhile, those already involved with the study of the Humanities carry on with no regrets, and those who plan to be involved look to the future with optimism, despite the statistics. This site is for them. We aim to explore the experiences and success stories of the professors, students, and academics who effortlessly dispel the popular misconceptions surrounding the Humanities and Liberal Arts.
Please watch our introduction video below, where we sit down with Dean Christian Brady, dean of the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State with several degrees in the Humanities. Then check out some of our interviews with students and academics who are confident in the value of a Humanities major, and in their decision to pursue such a degree. This site also features interviews with students pursuing non-humanities degrees, including STEM majors, and their perspectives of the issue. You can check out full interviews and additional experiences under our VOICES tab.
